So... This isn't a post about cricket. It's been six months today since I started playing a game called softball. In an effort to branch out and meet new people (also because I hadn't gotten much cricket in), I found a Meetup group for a softball league that was having tryouts. No experience required. Jackpot! So there I was, at the field on Feb 8th, without even a glove (nervous as heck, because yikes new people!). Met someone who looked like they were headed to the same thing as I was, "Hey, is this where the softball tryouts are?" "Yes, I think so." (Six months later, I'm proud to called this amazing person one of my best friends) So softball, as I learnt, is not cricket. The mechanics are different; almost opposite in some cases. I had to learn how to rewire my brain. There were bloopers galore, like running the bases with my bat; "Drop the bat!!!", the coaches yelled.
