Cannibalistic Trees...

Whoa! What on earth are those? Just a result of a random thought that popped into my lil head (Read PJ). A friend of mine was talking about some yucky ayurvedic syrup (kashaayam) that she had to take and the rest of us were joking about the fact that she probably dunked the whole lot into the flowerpot when she got home. I know! Most of you probably don't see the connect... Alright... Let me spell it out to you PJ-deprived souls... Definition time: Ayurvedic medicine: Ayurveda stresses the use of herbs as drugs Do you get it now? Well feeding the flowerpot Ayurvedic Kashaayam would essentially mean feeding it herbs. P.S. Thanks to Lakshmi Karunakaran (aka LK) for providing the fodder (pun so very much intended) for this post.

GOW Wrist...

What's that? You ask??? I have God of War Wrist. GOW Wrist: Definition: Said medical condition is similar to the more commonly known Tennis Elbow. Cause: The cause of this extremely painful condition is playing the extremely popular and addictive PS2 game, God of War 2, in excess of 3 hrs at a stretch. Or close to 10 hours or more over 3 days. Treatment: Advised treatment being "Hands off" the analog controller for a minimum of 3 days and writing one's SOP instead. The latter part being optional. In a single word, "Ouch!"... P.S. GOW 2 Rocks! Kratos rulez, so do my roomies for gifting me this bit of sunshine on my Birthday... :D Love you, Dobermates...

"Nobody puts Baby in a Corner"

>Twinkle toes... That's the name you get called for being a male dancer. Patrick Swayze was that and a lot more. His moves in the all time favorite "Dirty Dancing" got you wishing you could Mambo like/with him. His sensitive portrayal in "Ghost" made you wish for more of him. No-one can ever forget the scene where he walks up to the table where the Houseman's are seated and says "Nobody puts Baby in a Corner". The proof of that can be found in the new Broadway musical, where the entire crowd is on their feet in anticipation of that one line... The crowd yells, stamps their feet and smiles indulgently, remembering and re-living the magic created on screen... P.S. Rest in peace: Patrick Swayze - Swayze died with family at his side on September 14, 2009, at age 57, twenty months after being diagnosed with Cancer and being given just weeks to live...

Lekin, but, magar, pakshe...

Yay!... Have cleared my mandatory Certification... Yippeee! Wait a minute! Am I not getting too happy about this? There are billions of people around the world who are suffering from a million different ailments, and I have the gall to celebrate passing a stupid exam! How dare I! Yeah, we hear quite a few of these, don't we? The classic one being "Finish your food. There are a number of children in India who go for days without it". It's the technique we call emotional blackmail. The quintessential old mom in Hindi movies telling her son "Bete, tumhare khushi mein hi meri khushi hain, tum jo chaho kar sakte ho. Lekin,...". There it is! Lekin, but, magar, pakshe... These are the turning points, the phrases which condemn you. They take you from what you really want to do to what you're forced to do. Of course, most of us, most of the time, have no choice but to listen to so called "reason". But then, the time comes when we do need to make our cho...

Irresistible

I have a nephew. Jehaan’s his name. He’s an adorable three year old with the cutest dimples. He has this way of looking at you with the most adorable smile on his face and the naughtiest gleam in his eyes. The poor little guy’s been sick. He’s been in and out of coughs, colds and stomach upsets over the last 3-4 weeks. Well, he’s finally feeling better, so my sister decides it's time for him to get back to school. Man, schools nowadays… Even, kids in Nursery have assignments; rather their mom’s have them. The latest one was that the mothers had to draw life size pictures of their kids. My sister, Delnaz, or Dinku as I call her, made the apple of her eye lie down on chart papers and drew out his outline. Then the two of them had a fun time colouring it. Awwwww… Anyway time came to get the assignment to school. Dinku decided that she would take Jehaan to school in the car just this once as the “assignment” was too cumbersome to carry on the school bus. While dropping him off at schoo...

Enlightened...

Ever wondered how Archimedes felt on the day he discovered buoyancy? Heck, he just wanted to have a bath after a long tiring day. He landed up becoming a laughing stock. He still had the last laugh, though.  Enlightenment manifests itself in so many ways. Spiritual, intellectual, etc, etc. How about self enlightenment? How many of us have had days when we too find a light bulb dangling over our heads? Another word describing the same - Epiphany... (I'm in GRE mode so forgive me if I come out with more of these.) epiphany e·piph·a·ny[i-pif-uh-nee] a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience. (Courtesy - Dictionary.com) Well, in most cases, the self enlightenment isn't intuitive but has to be drilled in by a not so commonplace occurance. Most people have a "Doh!" (credits to Homer Simpson) moment. It's like, "Gosh! How couldn...

And I try again...

Hello again, blog world... After multiple failed attempts at maintaining a blog, the prodigal daughter returns to battle again. Speaking of which, The Prodigal Daughter by Jeffrey Archer is one of my favorite books... I'm yet to start re-reading it for the umpteenth time. Its pretty inspiring and I'm in desperate need of some inspiration right now. I'm at a stage in my life where I need someone or something to tell me "You go, girl!" "Go with the flow, do what you want"..  Gah! To top it all is the fact that I'm horrible at Math... I'm on a quest to discover the Fountain of Mathematical Excellence. I wish it existed. I'm sure it would be easier to find than me suddenly developing a genius for solving problems.  I just read the post again and I'm wondering what I'm doing here. But then again, I'm taking the Horrible vow to persevere until the blog world itself decides to kick me off it. (My mind’s going "Yeah, right! Like you’...
