Lekin, but, magar, pakshe...

Yay!... Have cleared my mandatory Certification... Yippeee!

Wait a minute! Am I not getting too happy about this? There are billions of people around the world who are suffering from a million different ailments, and I have the gall to celebrate passing a stupid exam! How dare I!

Yeah, we hear quite a few of these, don't we? The classic one being "Finish your food. There are a number of children in India who go for days without it". It's the technique we call emotional blackmail. The quintessential old mom in Hindi movies telling her son "Bete, tumhare khushi mein hi meri khushi hain, tum jo chaho kar sakte ho. Lekin,...".

There it is! Lekin, but, magar, pakshe... These are the turning points, the phrases which condemn you. They take you from what you really want to do to what you're forced to do. Of course, most of us, most of the time, have no choice but to listen to so called "reason". But then, the time comes when we do need to make our choices. Our own decisions.

I could be morose. But then hey, I did pass my exam. Why shouldn't I celebrate? Yay!

P.S. One more reason to celebrate - I have Starscream... :D

Ack! The pressure! :( IT's turning my brain to mush!!! No, no... IT's not the clown-like, spider-like, figment of Stephen King's imagination alien. IT's the never-ending wait!!! The wait for my admission results. I thought the application process itself was the biggest ordeal... Never did I guess IT was going to rear it ugly head, point a finger at me and say "You Wish!!! So... This isn't a post about cricket. It's been six months today since I started playing a game called softball. In an effort to branch out and meet new people (also because I hadn't gotten much cricket in), I found a Meetup group for a softball league that was having tryouts. No experience required. Jackpot! So there I was, at the field on Feb 8th, without even a glove (nervous as heck, because yikes new people!). Met someone who looked like they were headed to the same thing as I was, "Hey, is this where the softball tryouts are?" "Yes, I think so." (Six months later, I'm proud to called this amazing person one of my best friends) So softball, as I learnt, is not cricket. The mechanics are different; almost opposite in some cases. I had to learn how to rewire my brain. There were bloopers galore, like running the bases with my bat; "Drop the bat!!!", the coaches yelled.
