On hiatus...

Whew! Its been quite I while since I blogged last and wow its been a whirlwind journey till now. I'm now almost done with my third quarter at UCI, in the process of which, I've decided to take the plunge and work on a thesis (which I had no intention of doing initially). There's been a mad rush for internships, getting assignments done in time, project work and exams (thankfully not too many of those). One would think that all the craziness would leave little time for one to evaluate one's life, but I find myself doing that every now and then. The amount I've learnt in the last 9 months has been crazy. I felt I wouldn't be able to get this far after my first quarter, yet I'm alive and kicking. Thanks to my support system of my folks and a bunch of very good friends. Two words can make all the difference, persistence and perception.

P.S. Whoever said "the grass is always greener on the other side" needs to come out of the shade and look at his side harder. :D

Ack! The pressure! :( IT's turning my brain to mush!!! No, no... IT's not the clown-like, spider-like, figment of Stephen King's imagination alien. IT's the never-ending wait!!! The wait for my admission results. I thought the application process itself was the biggest ordeal... Never did I guess IT was going to rear it ugly head, point a finger at me and say "You Wish!!! So... This isn't a post about cricket. It's been six months today since I started playing a game called softball. In an effort to branch out and meet new people (also because I hadn't gotten much cricket in), I found a Meetup group for a softball league that was having tryouts. No experience required. Jackpot! So there I was, at the field on Feb 8th, without even a glove (nervous as heck, because yikes new people!). Met someone who looked like they were headed to the same thing as I was, "Hey, is this where the softball tryouts are?" "Yes, I think so." (Six months later, I'm proud to called this amazing person one of my best friends) So softball, as I learnt, is not cricket. The mechanics are different; almost opposite in some cases. I had to learn how to rewire my brain. There were bloopers galore, like running the bases with my bat; "Drop the bat!!!", the coaches yelled.
